In preparation for a radio interview (Tipp FM, 10:45 tommorow, Tuesday), in relation to the scandal of the Health services payroll fiasco, I cast my eyes round the net to find out other examples of Government waste in IT projects.

Of course I looked into how much the E voting nightmare cost, expecting to see the figure close by €50 million.

I wasn't far out, so far its cost about €53 million.

However, in a paper put together by Joe Mc Carthy, detailing the cost already, he also estimated the future cost of the system, which given the level of public mistrust, is unlikely to ever see the light of day in a polling station

Maybe people would like to see for themselves

Over €110 million.

Come on lads, its now time we scoured the net and any other source and built a database on the waste by this Government in relation to IT. Get it together, then disseminate as widely as possible.

Lets try to push for a real Junior Minister in charge of Information Technology, not just someone who goes to computer shop openings. IT is the way of the future, if we don't stop this waste, we'll sink in the IT mire
