what happened to Otto Warmier ?

US student freed from North Korea jail has been in coma for a year
Otto Warmbier's parents claim their son, who went into a coma after being jailed in March 2016, was "brutalised and terrorised".

A US student freed from a North Korean jail has been in a coma for more than a year, his parents have said.
Otto Warmbier, 22, was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labour in March 2016 after admitting he tried to steal a propaganda sign from a hotel he was staying at.
Mr Warmbier was released on Tuesday but had to be medically evacuated from the country after it emerged he had been in a coma since he was jailed.
North Korean officials told Mr Warmbier's family he fell ill from botulism after his trial then went into a coma after taking a sleeping pill.

The student's parents, Fred and Cindy Warmbier, said they were only informed of his condition last week.
In a statement, they said: "We want the world to know how we and our son have been brutalised and terrorised by the pariah regime."
They added they were grateful their son "will finally be with people who love him".
Swedish diplomats, who represent the US in North Korea, were denied access to visit Mr Warmbier, the Washington Post reported.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the release was secured "at the direction of the President", adding that Mr Warmbier was "en route to the US where he will be reunited with his family".
Mr Tillerson said he would not comment on Mr Warmbier's condition, but added that US officials are continuing "to have discussions" with North Korea about the release of three other jailed American citizens.
Before his trial, Mr Warmbier said he tried to steal the propaganda sign as a trophy for an acquaintance who wanted to hang it in her church.
He told reporters he was offered a used car worth $10,000 (7,840) if he could obtain a sign, adding that $200,000 (156,860) would be paid to his mother if he was detained and didn't return.

Mr Warmbier said he accepted the offer as his family was "suffering from very severe financial difficulties".
His release came during the first day of a visit to North Korea by former NBA star Dennis Rodman, who said he was "trying to open a door" to the reclusive state.
However, Rodman said the issue of Americans detained in North Korea is "not my purpose right now".

Wonder what happened to this student ?? What did they do to him, that he is in a medically induced coma..

Fncking nightmare nation, I genuinely don't understand why someone would want to visit a place that could arbitrarily just keep you and do God knows what to you.
A yank visiting is even more insane.

If there is no evidence to show that he was subject to a forced lobotomy it is most likely that some sort of chemical experimentation was carried out on him as this has been known to happen over there.

Ok, this lad went to a country which has a nightmare reputation for abuse of human rights, with whom his country is at war, in essence, and over which his country has no diplomatic leverage - and he engaged in a spot of casual vandalism? This under the noses of his chaperones, because you cannot wandervogel round NK on your tod.

    Wtf?

Apparently he went with some adventure travel company that advertises tours to places your family wouldn't believe you went to, or some such nonsense. Begs the question of what kind of sheltered, entitled rich kid he is. The parents are also demanding an investigation in the travel company, unsurprisingly.

Jesus Christ. Is this like that hooley on an island - I cant remember all the details - it was sold by a rapper as a major happening when in fact it was a Ponzi scheme? They all turned up expecting luxury accommodation, for which they had paid the full non-refundbale value in advance, and it was a mud field.
