Understandable that Enda may have been just engaging in wishful thinking and perhaps having a faint hope against hope that the parliamentary party will relent and keep him on for another season. Reality bites when he is back on the auld sod.

All he’s missing is landing at Dublin Airport and remarking - "Some Chinese leaders go on into their eighties . . ."

The playbook of the other Castlebar taoiseach looks as if it’s been read to him in bed by a former Fianna Fáil's press officer.

She might do well to also remind him of the manner of Haughey’s humiliating final press conference when he faced the media alone.

The party has, to a certain extent, realised that winning an election is not about being given the right to rule as they wish but it is being entrusted to govern the country, a huge difference and not everybody has cottoned by any means but there has been a discernible shift although there is still a long long way to go.

Oh, and I still wouldn't trust then an inch.
Yes, they've modified their speech, especially coveney. They're still waging war on anyone that doesn't own property (and quite a few who do).

Kennys casual relationship with the truth again ......he'll think he played clever semantic games but everyone else -and he knew it - took it as a dignified resignation after St Patrick's day.
He'll take it as clever politicking but really just further proof if it was needed that he's just another untrustworthy gombeen politician more concerned with himself than anything else

Personally I despise the "man" ........leads a non functioning rejected government , paralysed while Brexit threatens economic Armageddon for this country

Just f*cking GO Enda ..we're sick of you

Kenny had a good week in the USA in fact a very good week considering what was said before he went by most in the D4 media and RTE and on here. However the first thing he should do now when he gets off the plane is announce when he is going, even if it is say 1st of June. Was down in Mayo last week for a few days and even there his sopporters are saying it is time for him to go now with some respect rather than be pushed and split the party in a few weeks. His time is very limited either way

They've changed their song but they sure let the veil slip for a while.

I've thought for some while that Ireland increasingly resembles late era soviet Russia. The nepotism, coverups ( witness the ongoing amount of tribunals) the rampant corruption and collusion across state and commercial sectors, the ignoring of the will of the people, the media whitewash and refusal to speak truth to power. The police force that seems to be beyond control. We are just missing the food queues. However, at least the communists managed to house their people.

His departure was always going to happen after one of these Paddy's Day outings. The Brexit carry-on and the Assembly collapse has probably extended it by a bit but he should have stepped down before the summer; dare I say it: in a matter of weeks!

I hope so. Cos if not, a general election looms. And there's only one party that will really benefit from that: the party of a certain M. Martin.
