I think Alan was dispatched up to heaven by drug lords in recent times!
Taxing Drug Dealers. Now there's a novel thought.

From the time I was an adolescent in the 80s I was probably capable of more ejaculations per day and that was during Provo Bollex acting than I am now so my average per year would have been higher under the Provos than now!

City pubs are far more transient...

Local pubs have all the local BS going on in and around them... the gossip... the bullsh!t etc... and if you get the wrong mix of that combined with alcohol... well...

I go to my 'local' no more than a few times a year if that.

You can put it in the hands of your lawyer but it'll never stand up in court.

The end of the active IRA was indeed a turning point in the Dublin drug scene.
Once they went it was possible for any Tom, Dick or Harry without connections to set up shop as a drug dealer, before that it was a different story.

It allowed a lot of small time players like the "Westies" in Blanch to then set up the larger networks, previously they'd have been kneecapped.

it was really more about gangs flourishing that were not republican than specifically about drugs, which previously had been something that could not have happened.

Does this say much positive about the IRA....not really, it was mostly business with them having a notional "approved list" of dealers. The IRA was never officially supportive of drug dealing, but they did bits a pieces here and there it would appear, not to mention fringe characters like Jim McCann who worked closely with Howard Marks a few times.

What proof etc etc etc...I'm just another anonymous guy on the web...well out here in the real world are people who know the answers to some of the questions and some who know answers to them all.
