The majority cannot therefore be the elite.
Well hiding behind a poster without being indirect, I would simply say that FF in its present form would in my opinion be an unattractive option so that other options have to be considered, options that have Labour and SF combining to press a left of centre agenda.Originally Posted by hiding behind a poster

But just off the top of my head, direct FG gains from FF/PDs would proably include Louth, Cavan-Monaghan, Kildare South, Dublin Mid-West, Dublin Central, Cork North-West, and Carlow/Kilkenny. Added to that, there'd be very possible gains in places like Longford-Westmeath, Dun Laoghaire and Cork North-Central.

Without speaking for Sinn Féin, Sinn Féin will bring its mandate and its political analysis to bear and take the decision most consistent with what is in the best interests of the agenda that flows from that analysis.

I seem to remember various SF people saying that you would double or triple your representation in the last election. Instead you lost one seat. I wouldn't take too much satisfaction from any poll factual.

Sinn Féin did in fact increase both its share of the vote and its absolute number of votes and is the only party that has done so in each and every like for like election since the 1980s. Without putting too much emphasis on one poll, this poll suggests that the upwards trend continues for Sinn Féin.Originally Posted by baldur0300

This poll suggests nothing of the like at all. Before the GE, SF were on these numbers and above but the predicted SF breakthrough failed utterly to materialise and the party lost a TD.Originally Posted by factual

Taken along with the IT poll there is a definite increment in SF support this month compared to a few months before. That is all to the good. AndSinn Féin you fail to acknowledge actually increased its share of the vote in the last election, as many predicted. If this growth path continues, and these polls are surely an indicator for the good, then share of vote will translate ultimately into share of seats. Without speaking for Sinn Féin, I would argue that Sinn Féin is looking for steady sustainable growth not unsustainable increases; the steady and organic nature of Sinn Féin's growth suggests that a firm foundation has been built for future growth and this opinion poll is consistent with all of this.Originally Posted by baldur0300
