I am hoping to Sage 50 next but can't decide whether to do the payroll or the accounting package.
Do payroll, it will be more useful, lots of small companies employ part-timers to do payroll, you could pick up a couple of jobs or go freelance.

I know two people with Turas Nua here in Cork, both are highly qualified people and both hate it. Neither are impressed with the carry on, they have to attend the interviews and "training"days which, according to themselves are a complete waste of time. They get a different person @ the interview and none have any real interest in helping them.

People I've met on a CE scheme placement are very happy with the experience and training gained.

If you are 'bonded' in the Jobpath System and are offered a CE Scheme, while in it, can they stop you from taking it.
AFAIK, they can, which effectively would mean they are stopping people from getting work!

Yes, if you are on Jobpath then you are outsourced to one of the aforementioned recruitment agencies and follow a different system.

What do you mean by bonded? Some of my fellow victims on JobPath are also on CE.

Unless you are accepted in writing onto the scheme a few weeks in advance of JobPath you will be told that you still have to do JobPath. If you are on JobPath you are ineligible to apply for CE schemes. take a look at my blog

I've noticed a new development. Today I had to repeat the questionnaire and sign a PPP again. Apparently it'll be every 12 weeks now. So I plan to refuse to sign the next time I get the opportunity to do so. Caught me by surprise today so I went along with it.

The Dept are 'outsourcing' all of this stuff to mainly one private company - Turas Nua is a private, for profit company - who are paid large amounts of money to p*ss people off so much that they stop attending stuff and then get their dole cut. It is a direct copy of the disaster that exists in the UK.
