DISC DISPLAYS ON CARS BY EUROPEANS RESIDENT IN IRELAND.

Isnt it time for the government to inform their agent to start checking all this so called accession country living in our country to get their cars in order, instead of us living in an unequal society, i have never at anytime see them displaying any disc,i dont even think they have insurance on their cars and i do believed that if it was this non eu citizen driving without even road tax on their car the next thing they will get is a summon for them to appear in court and if the non eu person is a person they dont like, they will come to the door step of that persons to serve the summon,so that the people living around him could think that the non eu is a criminal,i am calling on the government to equalise that situation otherwise i will lunch a european court case against that system cos nobody is above the law.If nothing is not done it will be deemed as RACISM,and the european court of human right will sort the situation out without prejudice.

Ok so have you been all around the country checking the discs om EU nationals' cars? I think you have too much time on your hands to be honest.

If you get stopped at a check-point and you don't have valid discs you will get summonsed, simple as that. In fact if you have no insurance I think they can take the car keys off you there and then.

So what is the problem here, 'cos I'm a trifle confused.

I've come around. You're intellectually brilliant arguments have convinced me. Something MUST be done.

DOWN with that sort of thing (whatever it is).

Well said pluarist. However I would go further - not only must something be done, but... something must be done SOON!

But seriously, angelcountry, if someone has crashed into your car, and it turned out they weren't taxed or insured (did that happen to you?), its a matter for the police to pursue, if you ask them to. And your own no-claims bonus should be protected under your own motor insurance policy. The police here do check for tax and insurance discs on cars (probably not enough, but that's another story). They carry out random spot-checks on the roads, but they don't pick out particular groups of people and check their cars - nor should they.
