Roadside Bomb Injures Irish UN Soldiers

It is being reported on the BBC that a roadside bomb has "slightly" injured two Irish soldiers. It further states that the UN troops are under an Al Queda threat.

It seems the Irish are under attack by radical Islamic militants now as well.

This was heavily reported on RTÉ last night. The vehicle rolled down an incline which is what caused their injuries. Had the device been a mine instead of a roadside IED the story may well have been different.

Time to ditch the Nissan 4x4's and adopt armoured vehicles methinks.

Indeed. I'm hearing great things about the new Mastiff vehicle being used by the British in Afghanistan and Iraq, incredible protection apparently. Well worth the Irish Army getting a half -dozen asp. before the inevitable happens I reckon.

And on Monday, Hezbollah fired two rockets into Northern Israel, in violation of UN Srecuity resolution 1701. After the attack Israel complained to the UN that resolution 1701 wasn't being implemented and therefore there is now a threat against Israel and the Un peacekeepers in Southern Lebanon. Then the Irish troops were attacked so it would seem that israel's prediction was right. Maybe the Un will take notice, now that their own troops are coming under attack from Lebanese terrorists.

You honestly think that the folks who planted the IED knew/cared that the UN troops who would detonate it would be Irish?

In light of the Al-Queda attack ont he irih UN troopers, how can yu say that HizbAllah were the ones to fire the rockets?

Because they were two Katyusha rockets and that's the make of rockets that Hezbollah mainly use when they attack Israel from Lebanon.

Katyusha is not a registered brand name of the HizbAllah!
Katyusha's were used by Amal, the SLA, HizbAllah as well as the soviets. The are crude and easy to make, and are not is short supply in southern Lebanon. Merely being a "Katyusha" does not signify that it was part of HizbAllahs artillery, let alone that they authorised its firing.

Yes but Hezbollah haven't denied they fired them. They were asked if they did and they said "no comment" Take that alsongside that they operate from Southern lebanon and these types of rockets are their favoured weapons. The other terror groups in lebanon favour Qassam rockets. Though i'm figuring that until they catch someone firing a rocket with Hezbollah tattooed on his head, you'll keep trotting out the 'can't prove it' line

Did the rocket attacks kill anyone or do any damage?
