I would counter TU that this is to prevent Unionist employers "getting around" their obligations to be equal oportunity employers to all NIs populace. However on the face of it I can see why unionists that failed to see the rationale behind it , would claim it racist. Much like the ex RUC officer that told me that seeking equalty in the PSNI was discrimination against protestants, I then asked him did he think having blacks in an African police force was discriminatory against whites or a realistic reflection of the society they police... funny my point was taken and we moved onto the next conversation piece.
However I do not doubt that some in SF fringes would be racist vis a vis sectarian, I do know of one local member who was expeled from SF many years ago for expressing a disgusting "final solution" to the Irish problem.
