slapbang, I'm a Liverpool fan and if Alan Hansen had said somethin like that on MotD, i'd be extremely fcked off with him. I didn't mean to imply that Celtic fans shared his views, but it must be in some way illustrative of the attitudes among some sections of Glasgow snd Scotland, no?

It also shows a certain disdain for the song, which I find very strange coming from Nicholas. Anyone know White's background?

The reason I think they'll be fired, btw is because evidence shows that TV companies rarely fail to react to things like this.
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.

It does show the underlying accepted anti-Irish sentiment from many in Scottish society - obviously this is sometimes inspite of and sometimes because of Celtic FC

Nicholas is seen as SKY's "Uncle Tim" by Celtic supporters

It would dependon how it was said, but I wouldn't PERSONALLY be offended by it, however, I understand that some would.

If people feel aggrieved by this then they should not subscribe to Sky.

This is more political correctness gone daft.
Anyone who feels genuinely offended by this needs to see an analyst, or maybe a carpenter.

    Was that a deliberate pun?

strange though that Marsh was fired for a toon army/tsunami joke. I doubt there were many complaints about that, as it was on a phone-in show that couldn't possibly have that many viewers. I reckon a few scottish-irish people in Glasgow will be offended and there may be repercussions.

This is nowhere near the Atkinson one though - jaysus that was bad.

Yeah, Ron's gaffe was much worse. Then again I'm usually tolerant on these things. For example i heard neil delamere (back when he was s-h-i-t) make a Bobby Sands' joke and wanted to punch his lights out, but didn't hold it against him for long after that.
