bertie tells us its "time to cop on" + Cork cancer

yes, this is what bertie responded under questioning in the dail yesterday regarding the cancer screening scandal, surely this is a further insult to all of us?

according to the Irish Mail today there is a similar mess in Cork who oddly enough is one of the proposed centers of excellence.

Can you change the thread title. It doesn't really say anything about what the thread relates to, and people who might be interested in the Cork story, might simply take this as a warning thread from the mods

(now I sound like a mod)

Also, there is likely to be another thread started about the Cork story, and we'd then have multiple threads

something like 21 misdiagnosis in Cork and more to come in Galway university hospital (another centre of excellence)

It's starting to look like an over worked under resourced health service is facing systemic problems and not the 'individual mistakes' that Hearney and Bertie are trying to spin to the people.

It's pretty disgusting that they would scapegoat front line medical staff to try and take political pressure off their own backs, and Bertie is getting more and more arrogant every day. He is CJH mark 2.

If this continues, and more systemic failures come to light, someone will have to face the music. Should this be a resigning issue for Mary Harney? In the UK, if the policies of the Health Secretary lead to dozens of women getting misdiagnosed, and potentially missing the opportunity to get crucial early intervention, then I think they'd be shown the door.

As any FF-er will tell you, they've trebled investment in the last 10 years, that approximates to around 8 or 9 billion additional euro.

i'd just love to know where this extra $ goes....

apparently the machine in portlaise had a film in it, akin to an old camera with a film as opposed to using digial technology, i'm no expert in this, but surely if billions extra has been spent then surely modern technology should be used?

    This really made me laugh!

Resign? Any of this cabaret artists?? Are you kidding?? If any of these clowns had any shred of principle, half of them would be gone. But this is Ireland, so there is no such thing as a resigning issue

The truth is that FF may say they have trebled investment but what they really mean is that we are spending three times a much as 10 years ago. That spending has been wasted on increased layers of middle management ( no job losses in any health board and then new staff for the HSE, thanks Mary), medical inflation and increased wage bill as a result of benchmarkling and national wage agreements ( that delivered few efficiencies on the ground). The net result is that there is fizz all for equipment.
Radiography servcies Mon-Fri, 9-5 tells us all we need to know about the state of the health service.
For all her tough talk, Harney is another bluffer.
