    Republican Unity Call

In light of the call in the PIRA statement for republican unity as a means to secure republican objectives and its reference in Adams' subsequent interview how to members of PSF envisage such unity coming about? Around what political basis should this unity be constructed and is such unity open to all republicans regardless of whether they hold membership of the Provisional Movement?

I have always said I have no problem in seeing some sort of broad based republican think tank, made up of the various groups. However I don't think trust is there for that. Being a younger republican, I am free of the bitterness that may have been caused by splits in 86 or 98, but as a whole, I don't think our respective movements are ready for that.

But Adams and the PIRA leadership obviously think it does.

i think what that statement ment was calling on people in the provos who would be disgruntaled by it to stick together and remain united, not anything to do with anyone else.
The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show.
It is then we'll see the rising of the moon.

I'm just trying to establish their definition of what an Irish republican is. If your contention is correct then it would seem that they would regard, say Marian Price, as not a republican. But if they do regard her as a republican on what basis could unity be based between them?

A pan nationalist movement has been around for some time now. I am a member myself.[/quote]

I think I am, but I haven't got anything back from them to confirm they got my membership fee, which I sent about 8 weeks ago.

Were'nt they all about defending Articles 2 and 3? They called for a No vote in the GFA Referendum, if I remember.

If they're so Irish, why isn't their site in Irish? Or at least available as such. Why are they even giving recognition to the foriegn, heathen language?

because they're Irish (as in, from the island of Ireland), rather than exclusively Gaelic-Irish (which would make them sectarian)?

Then why have the name translated into Irish? Shouldn't it be translated into Ulster-Scots, Hindi, Chinese and whatever other minority languages that now exist on the island?
