    Would do no good to send a fighter jet - the pilot would never see any survivors (unless they were hovering 5000 feet off the ground) and even if he did, he couldn't do anything to help them. They have apparently, dropped a beacon from a spotter plane near where the debris was spotted to help the ships locate it, and to monitor currents.

    theres something else im after thinking of,,,, did ye ever read the hunt for red october??? in that book theres a load of stuff about submarines having loads of sound gear that can hear a salmon farting a thousand miles away so wouldnt subs have heard a big plane hitting the water and be able to say where it went in?????

    In the Superman movies, there was a guy who could fly faster than a speeding bullet - why don't they send him out there?
