    Are Suicide Bombers Unstoppable?

What factors, if any, would deter a suicide bomber?

[The Israelis bulldoze the family home of the terrorist, but this probably adds petrol to the fire.]

    Are they unstoppable?

Are you limiting the range of available options to deterrence?

They could nuke all the possible targets of suicide bombers or give them what they want.

I am asking if there is anything that could be done [any deterrent] that would register with a potential bomber as a reason not to go any further.

Apart from deterrence, what else did you have in mind? Please don't say removing the cause of the terrorism in the first place.

I'm not a determinist - I hadn't actually considered that. However, what you would no doubt call 'appeasement' is a potential option.

A counter theological interpretation to the one that is motivating them. Doubt is the key.

Allowing your bit of projection, what would you consider acceptable 'appeasement'?

I am wondering if suicide bombers have any weaknesses, do they have any characteristics that can be targeted, and hence used as a deterrent?

Interesting, I like it. Does that suggest that the solution must come from within Islam itself?

I'm not sure it's really a question of what I would find acceptable, simply a matter of whether or not making concessions is likely to yield the desired results (it might well have the reverse effect, of course).
