    What about this Solution..

It seems as though every country is facing some sort of immigration crisis. Ireland is no exception. Mostly, people are getting worried and are trying to limit who 'gets' in.
This might be a really unrealistic idea but,
What if you had to learn Irish at a competant level to be allowed in?
In America, Mexicans and other immigrants don't have to learn English, but thats only because English isnt the first language in the constitution. We all know that Irish is the first language in the Irish constitution, so why not force people to learn it if they wish to live in Ireland?
It might seem a bit hypocritical, as many Irish people themselves don't know Irish, but it would be a good way to:
    -Slow down immigration
-Those who did immigrate would have an understanding of Irish society
    -Bolster up the Irish language
Ireland is free for another day.

Would like to see " native " Irish learn their own language first.

Agreed, but first we expell all nationals not fluent in Irish, and then re-admit only after fluency is demostrated. What about that? Not many people would remain in Ireland

With unemployment low, economic growth high, human development same, infrastructural catch-up underway, education standards improving, death rates static and a happy populace; I really don't think we have an immigration "crisis". We have a lot of people coming here, granted, but they aren't here for the Guinness and Mammy's bacon and cabbage. They're here to fill labour market shortages which have appeared while our economic engine moves faster than our education injection system can fuel it. I suggest we still pursue pro-growth policies while ensuring infrastructure improves in tandem, that would ensure immigration remains a non-crisis.

Yes we would have to apply the same standards to all - starting with our politicians - Anois, cá bhfuil Micheál Ó Rinn?

Bhuel, ní féidir leis "bheith ag oibriú" más pearsa é, ní meicníocht é! Ní féidir leis ach "bheith ag obair" mar sin
