    US Supreme Court Appointee

    Any last bets?

Will Bush act as predicted, and go for the pro-choice option, and if so, is that good for the US?

Edit: of course, I meant pro-Life.

Have you been on Mars for the last 5 years?

Bush is currently scouring the backwoods of Alabama to find the next Supreme Court Justice. We all pray he'll make the right choice!

It is always very well kept who his nominee is. I doubt it will be too extreme as Bush has had such little luck with the Senate, and his approval ratings are so low, that a loss will finish his administration and it's associated agenda.

I wonder though will he deliberately pick a controversial candidate - so that the resulting attention will detract attention from the Rove controversy?

Although not hugely popular with the right right in America the AG Gonzales would seem to be the obvious choice? And Bush does have a history of making history in his appointments (Powell and Rice as Secretary of State).
Ireland interests are best secured within a more dynamic EU. Vote YES to Lisbon.

Rove wouldn't let him derail his agenda just for him. He'ld sooner resign and work from behind the scenes then allow Bush do that.

Actually, the right hates Gonzales as he has said that although he opposes abortion, he believes it should be legal. He is too moderate.

He needs something that will be less of a controversy, with his fall in the polls and the controversy over Rove, the war in Iraq getting worse, and the controversies over appointees to the UN and World Bank, he will be wanting something that will earn him kudos with the public and opposition rather than something that will earn him more bitter enemies and further alienating the 'left'..
