Concern grows as Haughey condition worsens

GOVERNMENT sources last night confirmed reports that former Taoiseach Charles Haughey is now "very ill" after a significant worsening of his prostate cancer.

Mr Haughey was released from the Bons Secours private hospital a month ago following treatment for his illness, which is understood to have spread to other areas. - Irish Independent

Come on have abit of respect, he may have been a crook, that that is no reason to wish him ill, I don't like him but I do hope he is not in pain if he has reached a critical stage in him illness.

Personally I'll be putting the champagne on ice to pop open when the aul b*stard kicks it. We're still seeing the effects of the culture of corruption, bullying and underhandedness in political life that he brought to this country. Twill be good riddance.

Why am I not surprised at this attitude, after the Chief and his ilk presided over the persecution of Bridget McCole, a mother of 12, in her last painful days on earth.

The Celtic Tiger that was created by a combination of luck, EU grants, the sacrifice of trade union members and the sound management of the Rainbow government and whose benefits have since been squandered by FF/PD, leaving us with a third world health service and transport infrastructure? That Celtic Tiger??
Whatever good Charlie may have done the country while he was Minister for Finance (being fair I'll acknowledge that he wasn't the worst in that position), the dodgy culture that he helped to bring to Irish political life, especially after he became Taoiseach, far overshadows any benefits he might have brought.

Yes, because everyone else in the country worships Haughey and doesn't think he was any way corrupt. Right! Silly me, eh?
