    Ireland being whipped by Germany at Lansdowne Road (not Aviva) - a reflection of where "we're at"?

    As I write Rep Ireland 0 Germany 5 - our worst since 1-4 defeat by Denmark in the 80s. Probably our worst ever.

    Football wise we're in the hands of an Italian, economically in the hands of the Germans

    Does this match reflect our bigger problems/challenges ?

    Our worst was 7-0 to Brazil under Eoin Hand

    Worst competitive was 6-0 against Austria in the early 1970s

    I hope the Germans score another 5 - or at least enough to embarrass the Italian into resigning.

    well its good that our football reflects everything else that is going on in ireland. Why not get a few fat balding mates of our insider political and civil service elites onto the pitch and really do it the irish way ? make a balls of it as usual.
