I heard Alex this morning and he will go far in that position. He's gotten the lick-up to Reilly perfect. He is also a very cromulent politician, he didn't answer questions, just waffled all about the topics.

Both areas are supposed to get PCCs, just like most every town in the Country.

The issue is which of three development models would be used. The PPP model is the least favoured by the HSE and Department of Finance.

We now know that both Swords and Balbriggan were at an advanced stage of negotiations for the HSE to rent accommodation from private sector providers but the negoatiations had stalled. As soon as it was announced that the HSE were going to use a PPP for these two locations instead the landlords of the proposed locations suddenly came back to the negotiation table and agreed fair terms with the HSE.

That saved the taxpayer a small fortune.

(so much so that the landlord in Balbriggan is very upset at how he was outmanouvered by the HSE)

There are no "positions". PCCs are being built up and down the Country. Something like 50 are up and running already.


The issue of "positions" only comes into it when deciding on which locations to prioritise for PPPs (one of three methods for developing PCCs, and the least favoured method from a taxpayer perspective).

Shortall was asked to provide a list of 20 disadvantaged areas to include in the first round of PPPs. The Department and HSE then added another 15 to the list using other criteria (which we really should be given more information about).

But the 15 were not put on the list because of their ranking on the disadvantaged list, which was only one creterion for inclusion.

I've no idea who is developing the Balbriggan PCC, other than the information you have brought regarding that particular company.

All I know is what has been written in a couple of newspaper articles, and what I heard in interviews given by Bottler, Shortall and Burton.

Certain elements in the FFGer's are smelling blood at the moment, can the man with no ballz hold the naughty little boyz "n" galz of his party together? Did anyone see in the Sunday Times today the story about the Balbriggan site already going ahead under an "operational lease" agreement with the HSE..??....A developer expressing surprise that the site appeared on the Ministers list for a PPI as the agreement was already in place?
heard it on one of the radio shows today...if true its even worse than "stroke politics"..its taking credit for a PCC already in the bag!! (??)

Cannot log into Sunday Times...used to be able to pay for one issue..now looking for 3 month commitment...way of things to come I suppose!!
