There was no need to shoot the wife.The hit was carried out Tehran from the back of a motorcycle in traffic, very hard to hit a motiving target from the back of a bike.
The Alps shooting was different, it was a remote area, witnesses would have phoned the Police with descriptions, road blocks would been set up quickly, with a good chance of interception. They had to get across the border as quickly as possible, every minute counted. Note they also used a sound suppressor.
