John McGuinness who wants to lead a Public Accounts Committee investigation into the banking crisis, including the role of State institutions, has sensationally claimed that a groupl of civil servants wants to silence the inquiry. John McGuinness says, "There is at the heart of our administration a reactionary, unprofessional and inefficient group of senior public service managers, whose veneration of the status quo and the perks, pensions and pay it gives them is costing this country a very large fortune. It is a disgrace."

Pat Rabbite saying John has an issue with Civil Servants in the past and people may have an issue with a FF ex minister running the show.

He should name the people who comprise this group. It is in the public interest to do so. He can use Dail privilege if necessary. Either put up or shut up.....

Too much guff goes unchallenged in this country.

If this is true we NEED to know who is party to such an effort to stifle the truth.

People who were part of the power structure, when the decisions were made which bankrupt the country, complaining about the results of these decisions and blaming others are not very credible.

Was Marian Finucane herself not a beneficiary of Nationwide/Fingleton soft lending?

Claire Byrne said the oireachtas enquiry ref was defeated because the electorate were confused and of course Pat Rabbitte agreed with her. I had thought CB would be an improvement on MF but maybe not.

Agreed, Pat Rabbitte says he should be 'very careful'. But you can't say stuff like this in the Sunday paper headline and then not back it up. But Colm McCarty says that any inquiry under the Oireachteas will not be strong enough to find and jail etc anyone found. This would be starting another useless tribunal style washover. A total independent group needs to head it up with the proper legal structure to jail those found guilty. Otherwise it is useless as all the bankers, politicians and developers have got away with it so far. We have to sell our rings to stay out of jail.
