It shows that the Commission of Inquiry model is woefully inadequate. McCabe's negative experiences with the O'Higgins inquiry are another example of this. For justice to be done it must be seen to be done.

Denis O'Brien is in the news again....'The court action will be viewed as a serious escalation of the investigation by the ODCE into corporate governance at INM. The investigation was sparked by a whistleblower complaint about Mr Buckley made by former chief executive, Robert Pitt, who has since left INM.'

'Mr Pitt and Mr Buckley originally fell out over an aborted bid by Mr O’Brien to sell Newstalk to INM.
Mr Pitt last year refused to meet Mr O’Brien’s asking price for the loss-making radio station, leading to the row with Mr Buckley.'

After a board investigation failed to quell the disagreement, Mr Pitt took his complaint to the ODCE.

'The watchdog has sought and received reams of documents from INM, and has since widened its investigation of the complaint against Mr Buckley to also take in a “potential breach of personal data” at the group.'

RTE news reports: Injunction secured against Sunday Business Post by IBRC Commission

The Sunday paper is also prohibited from publishing any oral evidence given to the Commission in private session, or any document circulated by the commission under under Section 12 of the 2004 Commissions of Investigation Act.

Paul Gallagher SC, appearing with Barry Lennon Bl , for the Commission said the injunction is to remain in place until the Commission publishes its report about Siteserv.
The sale of Siteserv (now Actavo) to Millington Ltd, a company controlled by businessman Denis O'Brien, for €45.4 million in March 2012 is one of the transactions the commission is looking into.
The injunction, made against Post Publications trading as The Sunday Business Post, was sought over fears that details published by the paper may undermine the commission's work.

The order is to remain in place until the Commission publishes its report concerning Siteserv.

Given the history of delays to this IBRC/Siteserv inquiry, with a final report now due at end of 2018 (and given the 4 extensions to date it could be later), 3.5 years or more seems like a very long time to shut down reporting on a matter of such concern.

In 2016, we gave €484,000 from our overseas aid budget to Denis O'Brien's Front Line Defenders charity.
If the Govt is withholding funding to OCI because of Pat Hickey *allegations* why is Govt giving REDACTED money after Moriarty *conclusions*.

This is where we spend our overseas aid - Denis O'Brien's is on board of Concern Worldwide which is the single biggest recipient in 2016 with €24m. We gave Mary Robinson's Foundation €150k.
