When I came to the countryside there were to houses in the vicinity that were in a similar condition. Since then, one has been given a septic tank and the old boy who lived in the other has been moved to council housing.
The question asked was would there be a notable amount of houses that didn't have a septic tank, the answer is certainly no. Nearly all houses that are not derelict have a septic tank located on the site.
When a person applies for planning permission for alterations it will be taken for granted that if the septic tank is not present or substandard then that will be addressed as part of the proposed development .

The house is in good condition and the person is not about to be applying for planning permission for any alterations. It is what it is - a house without a bathroom. I expect the owner will live for another 40 years in good health.

Apparently a little more info on what the local authority records show than you!

What was your claim again...ah yes...that they already have all the info on the whereabouts of septic tanks. The campaign to get away from that mistake since has been most entertaining. I like the one that your ignorance cannot be ignorance because I have a FF avatar.

Sheesh, I should call myself a planning agent. All I need is a tenner for those cards you can get printed off in shopping centres!

You could of course but when you put your name on the Planning Application Form where it says.. "Agent :" you'd be screwed shortly afterwards.

Yes, to the kitchen, but it beats me where the drain water goes.

Not very far, out the wall and onto or into the ground outside the kitchen most likely.

Funny thing about that house, which you say is in good condition, is that the current requirements from many planning Authorities are so stringent that they couldn't even give planning for a treatment system to serve the existing house , don't mind an extension. Most authorities standards are inapplicable to thousands of existing family homes within their jurisdiction. This leads to a situation whereby Sanitation /Water department engineers have to be "practical" in their deliberations when enforcing EPA and LA standards.

Practical is not in this new legislation it seems.
