I don't know how the school wouldn't know. I only know that when I asked, that is the answer I got. Maybe they didn't feel like telling me. Maybe they think it's none of my business. Maybe they thought it would prejudice me against them. I'd have preferred an honest answer (you imply that they perhaps lied to me.) I think we're all a little tired of being lied to like fools.

I CAN handle the truth (most people can) but it helps to know what that is.

Sorry if my earlier reply sounded snippy or rude.

The school will know by now who on the staff are leaving in Feb.

But you are right to be concerned about other issues which they certainly do not know about---what will their budget allocation be for next year, how many SNAs will they be allowed, etc....

Some schools are only informed on these vital issues over the summer, which makes planning and time-tabling for the new academic year, very difficult.

The way it is, is this: There will be less of everything, everything will be tighter, and the school will do a fairly good job of papering over the cracks, stretching staff and resources, and making sure cuts do not impact too severely on the kids...

That is the way it nearly always works out in the end

Actually I may be misjudging MacCarthy. Perhaps he did object to the method as distinct from the principle back in the 1980s. I take it back.
