The govt might call the army, but those guys will know the score and prob won't even answer the phone,

The dogs in the street know we are being raped, the state forces will not ever try to fight the people on this one, if only because they too have friends and families!

And if they did try to crush an uprising, well, I for one would worry about their futures!

    Now it is getting interesting.
Tell me- what should happen after 0000 plus one?
What will be the first step- and the others afterwards- which will make the situation better in this country than it is now?
What gives you the idea that toppling the government will change anything at all?
The civil service is running the country- regardless of a government in power or not.

Not sure what you're on if you think there is going to be an uprising here. 85% of the workforce is employed and paid better than the average EU citizen. We have generous social welfare. The Greeks were not that well off to start with, there is massive tax evasion, huge levels of unemployment particularly among the young. They're naturally more passionate than we are to boot.

Are you actually suggesting there will be an Irish uprising? You really haven't a clue. Unlike Greece, Ireland could wipe out its deficit by going after the welfare class and public service. Although they are a large number, the rest of the population hugely outnumbers them. Such protests wouldn't have popular support.

The greek government can't cut its way out of trouble, it also has to raise taxes on the private sector. It also has less social cohesion, the state is relatively new, unlike Ireland.

Yeah, yeah - why would the majority of Irish people actually take part in an uprising?
Revolutions happen when people have nothing to lose. We're far too well off to risk it for what exactly?

Because no one is expecting it, means it definitely will happen? Strange logic

What's coming? A new series of the All-Ireland Talent Show?

You're talking about the most pliant and docile people in Europe. The counter-revolution won in 1922...

    The balls for what ?

Tear gas, bullets and mayhem ?

Why does it seem to you that it is only a matter of time for violence and chaos ?

And would trouble in the streets solve our problems one jot ?

Let the Greeks solve their own problems. We dot not have to ape them. Anarchy will solve little.

Most political and economic commentators seem to think the Greek economy is a basket case, in any case.

When it comes to solving problems, I think most people (women included) think with their heads, sometimes their hearts, but rarely with their cajones.
