The insanity of the Orange Order

Just look at this item from today's Belfast Telegraph and explain how this outragous organization has not lost its collective mind.

While the Republic of Ireland is commanding world respect as a major player in global politics, this lunatic outfit is stuck in the seventeenth century. It is one of the saddest stories in recent times and I truly believe the British government is responsible for this madness.

    Here is the item :

    Tension high on Shankill
    Parade is postponed by Order
    25 June 2005

There was tension in the Shankill today after the Orange Order called a protest in the area, following their dramatic decision to postpone the Whiterock parade.

In an escalation of their protest at the Parades Commission's re-routing of the march, which was scheduled for this afternoon, the Order will instead seek to hold the event in the late summer or early autumn.

In the meantime, contact with nationalist residents will be called off.

The new strategy was decided last night by local Orangemen.

North Belfast DUP Assembly member Nelson McCausland said: "The community has decided to suspend cross-community dialogue because it is clear that republicans do not understand what dialogue means."

How did you get today's Bel Tel at 1.00am, 12 odd hours before its on the stands?
Or is this actually old news from Friday which we all ignored then because it was simply more ofthe same old push-me pull-you negotiating between diferent arms of the two tribes inthe north?

Tribes is the right word to use. The Orange Order is reminiscent of an eighteenth century American indian tribe fighting over buffalo skins.

Fortunately, the American indians have moved on and have entered the twentieth century.

You have some very convoluted synapse pathways if that's what the OO remind you of.
This is not just old news, this is the sort of low-intensity background lack of mutual understanding that goes on in the North on a daily basis. There is nothing relating to this particular set of events - disputes over a contentious parade route - that makes it worth debating at all.

    That's for sure.

The entire matter is pure insanity and smacks of tribal warfare in the Congo. Can any thinking human being imagine the legacy being visited upon the children of these ridiculous Orangemen?

    It is beyond sad.

    Shanachie,

I have steered clear of people like you and pogon. The hatred you two possess is a disease I choose to not contract, most often you step out a little too far.

Please explain your comparsion of the native people in the 1800's to that of the Orange Order. You are a racist piece of ************************. How dare you? Do you have no shame in your game? Tell me, just how many natives do you know? And please tell me just how you gathered this tripe: 'tribe fighting over buffalo skins'. You are a sick individual!

Actually, the American indians of the last century were much more civilized than the Orangemen of today.

    Think about it.

    A quick example :

Would you not imagine that the Apprentice Boys of Derry should have at least advanced to Journeymen after all these years?

Please tell me just when natives became 'more civilized'! I will ask you again just how many natives do you know? You truly are a bigot. You sit and preach about the orange order when you are no different than they are. You are a mentally deranged individual that is in desperate need of a mental health facility. Have you stopped taking your Elavil?
