well, in fairness it's more than a few quid.
A 93 car might set you back €500 to €1000 depending on model and condition.
You'd definitely need a service to get past the NCT.
Then there's the insurance, steep I'd imagine for a Nigerian with no record here.
    Road tax about €300 pa
    Then there's petrol and parking.

How do you do that on €19 in the hand, a week?

Finally, I don't think Nigerian driver licences are recognised here but I stand to be corrected on that.
Does any of that provide evidence for the myth that asylum seekers are given free cars?

Padraig knows what's right and makes up stories or else unquestioningly believes stories that agree with his prejudices.
Ask for some evidence and he starts throwing abuse.
    It's not good

I don't know if it's true or not but I'm amazed at the number who do have cars considering their supposed financial situation, aren't you?

No I just don't waste my time having debates with people who believe in urban myths that support racism, and I think threads such as these should be pulled.

LOL, a supporter of SF supporting censorship, that's ironic, Conor Cruise O'Brien would chuckle at that.
You, Padraig, were the one that posted the hoary old tale of the Nigerian doc using his salary cheque to buy a car. That's the closest to an urban myth on this thread.

Can you tell which black people are and are not Nigerian simply by looking?

    Are you popper?

I know they aren't all asylum seekers, a lot are the parents of Irish born children. Same difference as the bulk of these are on welfare also.
Between them these 2 groups make up the vast majority of sub-saharan africans here.

No I wasn't at the seminar, why, do you agree with these stupid racist threads, or did you start the thread using another name.
So where did you hear/read about the unfortunate Nigerian doctor's experience, then?
Banned I have no interest in this topic or thread, I regard the whole thing as racist.
That is Rubbish and typical of the PC Brigade.

If it's true then pointing it out is not Racist surely?

In fact if it is true it is anti Irish racism.

Can I have taxpayers money to buy myself a car? Hardly!

Stop trying to smear people with the Racist tag just because they have a different opinion than yours.

As expected your refusal to engage in Dialogue highlights your lack of confidence in your own thinking.

Like what exactly are you so afraid of, losing the discussion?

Some of them have been given refugee status and can work. Some are here on work permits. Some are EU nationals. Some are even Irish. I presume you have statistics?
