Get them off teh hook??You must be joking. We should be ruthless in this.
I believe that after 10 years it is almost ethically wrong to allow them just jump ship onto the next government. Surely they made their bed with FF(especially after their inaction last october) and they should sleep in it.
We need to offer the people a fresh alternative. For the same reason a Lab-FF govt would in a sense be a betrayal.

John Gormley TD on this question:

Deputy Gormley said: “If the PDs pull the plug, who exactly are they going to go into Government with? Fine Gael, the Labour Party and the Green Party won’t touch those opportunists with a barge pole.
Just to clear up any doubts.

On no account should FG/LAB/Greens even contemplate allowing the PDs anywhere government if their combined seat total is in the area of 78-82. Assuming 6+ independents, the PDs, should they survive this election with Dail representation, coalition with them should be treated in the same way coalition with Sinn Fein is treated by these parties; ie. absolutely out of the question.
As an aside, in my opinion, Sinn Fein has not done anything like the same damage to the country as a whole as the PDs have in the last decade.

Michael McDowell has ridiculed the Rainbow alternative and stated clearly the PD/FF combination was the only option favoured by him. The PD Titanic is heading for an electoral iceberg. A vote for the PDs is a wasted vote.

I reckon the only way FF will be in governmemnt is to ditch Bertie.
or 3-4 independents which is clearly easier to manage
