    More antics of Ivor Callely

Some more antics of Ivor Callely exposed in the Mail today. He has been using the Dáil resturant to tap firms for money. Some of the donations do not appear on Callely's donation list.

Ivor Callely has been using the Houses of Oireachtas to hold fundraising events over the past ten years, the Irish Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The MoS has confirmed that in at least two cases donors paid an amount over the declarable limit of €634.87 (£529) to attend the events, but they do not appear on Callely’s donation list.
However, a spokesman for the Standards in Public Office Commission said a percentage of each donation may be deducted, depending on the cost of putting on an event, which might bring it below the declaration threshold.

There is no charge for a member to book the restaurant.

What other deductions could he have made?

This briefing against Callely is getting ridiculous at this stage. When are people going to start asking the obvious question. Who is shafting Callely and why?

A more obvious question is what does he know that is so powerful as to keep him in the job? And how did he swing the appointment in the first place?

It's getting a bit detailed and small scale alright. What a classic fall guy. What have you got on them Ivor? You've nothing left to lose when your name is a synonym for a deluded fool...

i think shafting is the incorrect word.
shafting implies there was no inappropriate behaviour by the bould ivor.
    this is not the case.
instead of shafting you could use "exposing".

Who is exposing Callely and why?
the answer to the who part is "the mail on sunday".
the answer to the why bit may well be "because they can".

the real question is - will ivor get away with it.
    spoiler alert "yes he will"

Barnacle, I couldn't resist the link to the MOS, and that pic of the Callely's definitely belongs in the Political Humour forum!!

Poor woman - I didn't realise she only had one leg, but the other one is beautifully sheathed in... is that lace or wha'?

It's most certainly not the MoS nor the media in general for that matter. They are being fed this level of detail by someone in the know.

They say follow the money. Who would have most to lose from Callely running in the next GE? Who does he share his constituency FF vote with?

Callely makes for good blood sport. His life will change fundamentally after the next election. He is unemployable at this stage.
