And someone would be put into his slots and the shows would go on and the advertising revenue would still be generated.

I always thought that the B.B.C. are only interested in people with talent.
    Has that policy changed ??

Since he took over the LLS he has increased viewers to levels not seen since Gay Byrne's heyday. Advertising is up and Quinn pays more than €500k per year to sponsor the LLS. RTE couldn't even get a sponsor for Kenny's final year on the show.

Time will tell if he will do the same in the Gerry Ryan slot on 2FM but based on his record to date he probably will. Everything the guy touches turns to gold.

Who has more to lose if Tubs leaves Montrose - RTE or Tubs?

But RTE is losing money. We, the taxpayers are subsidising this organisation. Where will Tubridy go?

It doesnt matter where he goes - he will not be earning money for RTE.

He could go and live as a hermit in Connemara but RTE will be the bigger loser.

His shows are the station's single biggest revenue generators.

If Tubs decides to quit RTE tomorrow he would secure a big gig on Newstalk by the end of the day. If he went to the UK he would secure a decent gig on the BBC or ITV or commercial radio.

Love him or loathe him he is a proven revenue generator - that's why he is number one in RTE now and will be for as long as he stays there.

And RTE is on track to break even or make a small profit this year after the cost-cutting of the last two years.

At the end of Finucane on Saturday there were three adverts. All advertising coming RTE radio shows.

So for K300,000 and at the prime spot of the closing wrap up.

Marian made zilch, nada, nothing for her employers.

Get Real! RTE receives a subsidy of €200 million a year from Licence fees.

It is nowhere near on track to break even or make a profit!

RTE's commercial revenue is €174 million a year.
RTE's operating costs are €400 million a year.

That's a loss of €226 million in my book!

What would they pay them? They could afford maybe €120k, no more. So why don't RTE say to Kenny, 125k or nothing?

Can anyone say that any other presenter on LLS would not gnerate the same sort of revenue for RTE that Tubs does ? I think the LLS is established and any presenter, say Eamon Dunphy, would still be watched by as many people. Its not dependent on him

I believe that Tubs turned down an offer from the Beeb to stand in for Chris Evans (or was it Wossy?) during the summer.

How do you know? Is that a guess? Tony Fenton earns a lot more than than, D'Arcy who doesnt have the ratings Tubridy has earns substantially more than 120K.

Stations pay 'Talent' according to their pulling power. Tubridy has it.

Well your book includes the licence fee on the loss side so of course you'd look at it that way.
