    TheEU welfare system gone mad

Get packing: Brussels decrees holidays are a human right

Things are getting better in the socialist EU ,the taxpayer may have to cough up for welfare recipients Holiday. These lunatic Politicians in Europe that suggest this type of rubbish should be sacked or made pay for the Holiers out of their own pocket ,were paying for banks ,governments, welfare and now for the pleasure of do nothing sitting on your arse all day the nice taxpayer will give you a holiday in Spain.
Get packing: Brussels decrees holidays are a human right - Times Online
A champion of the people emerges with the age-old and appealing promise of "something for nothing" - to be financed through every-increasing taxes. Supply and demand are thrown out of gear - the overhead goes up; the effective use of human energy goes down; the standard of living is lowered because money cannot buy wealth that is not produced.

    I prefer this one:

Following a new EU Edict by Minister Antonio Tajani, appointed as EU Commissioner of Enterprise by Silvio Berlusconi, the Admiralty was mulling over demands that they seize all UK flagged cruise ships and make them available for 'Free Holidays" for less fortunate EU citizens.
    ...
Under Tajani's proposal, which is now in effect under a pilot program which will be made mandatory in 2013, EU members will be forced to foot the bill which could come to '100's of billions of Euros' according to an EU accounting firm founded recently by Al Gore, Tony Blair, and Bill & Hillary Clinton.
Actual details - the EU hasn't declared holidays a "human right", nor is there any plan to force taxpayers to subsidise holidays for those on welfare. Tajani's reference to holidays being a 'right' is entirely separate from the proposed scheme, which is a pilot scheme to give a boost to the tourism industry within Europe - the Calypso social tourism scheme, which has been running since 2009.

Pretty standard eurosceptical rubbish, conflating a statement made recently with a separate program already running for a good while and pretending the one is the outcome of the other.

It wouldn't surprise me anymore if I heard that there is a new EU directive enforcing us to declare how many times we went to the loo everyday and to detail the contents.

I'm sure the Telegraph or OpenEurope would happily run such a "story" - and you'd probably believe that uncritically too.

They'll be insisting that workers are paid for their work next....

The idea that the EU is 'socialist' is utterly laughable, pure Daily Mail stuff. Only the type of people who think that Obama is a communist say stuff like that.

I do pity the EU apologists in their feeble attempts to patronise. Even as the Euro falls apart they still proclaim its merits as a fantastic monetary experiment.

I'm the last person you could call an EU apologist here, and was arguing against the single currency when you were only a gleam in Ron Paul's eye. Neither am I patronising. I'm merely insulting..

Countries are only around centuries. Man ,millions of years. In the future there will be one big global federation/government. Its the natural progression of things and should make equity and justice much easier to spread.
