Foreign nationals make up 10% of population

Foreign nationals make up 10% of population

Foreign nationals now account for 10% of the Irish population, according to the 2006 Census Report published by the Central Statistics Office.

The number of foreign nationals living here has almost doubled to 420,000 in the past two years.

This is a massive increase and influx and just goes to show the strain of Housing, Jobs, Health and Schools.

Anyone who doubted that Immigration has become out of control only have to see the statistics.

Its high time this government or the next went someway to stemming and controlling immigration.

Ireland simple cannot Afford or sustain a increase on average of over 150,000 people every year.

Unfortunately, I dread to see what Ireland will be like in 15 years time.

Will it become a colony of Nigeria or China?

Seeing is believing. Noone thought back in 1997 that we'd reach the quota we have today in 2007.

If the economy continues to be strong, how long before non-nationals are the majority in the State?

Who could have thought that things would change so quickly.

Highly interesting that around 44,000 claim "no nationality" in the census returns we all know what that means. Perhaps some of them are illegal/undocument migrants of the 'student' kind who come here on student visas before disappearing into the underground economy? After all, how credible can it be that - as shown by the Census - only 11,000 Chinese were in this country? It is based on the census returns of course and it doesn't take a genius to understand that that illegals would have good reason not to want to disclose their nationality to the census enumerators. Time to get tough and most certainly not the time to put the "let them all in" brigade of the Rainbow parties - especially the Greens and sections of Labour (which called for an amnesty before the last election) - into office. Time for EU-wide biometric passports and greater use of technology similar to what they have at Zeebrugger in Belgium to detect illegals hiding in containers at ports.
