In a new welcomed move by the government vulnerable households including the elderly, New safeguards for energy customers launched yesterday will offer greater protection to the elderly, to those relying on life-support equipment and to people with disabilities.
However it has also emerged that the charity St Vincent De Paul have been paying over 3 million a year to pay of vulnerable households. The charity's vice president John Monaghan welcomed the move, "We were happy with the idea that people who were financially vulnerable would be looked after."
He said there was an increasing number of migrant workers seeking financial help from the charity, with many struggling to understand how to pay household bills.
"They struggle to read their meters and to pay their bills properly as the instructions are in English," he said.
So it appears that if you are a migrant, don't Understand the idea of paying for your Electricity and Gas, And cant read the bill because its in English despite the fact you chose to come to a English speaking country, you can either get your electricity and gas paid for by St Vincent de paul or apply to the government for financial help.
Meanwhile Irish people will just have to rely on Mabs! Or Keep struggling!
You couldn't make it up!
