Could you post a reliable source for your information please? The wikipedia entry is inaccurate, as it represents the the situation when the vatican signed the concordat. As I have already stated Vatican law incorporated automatically changes in Italian law until a few years ago.

In 2001, Benedict, who then was in charge of Vatican investigations of abuse allegations, sent a letter to bishops counseling them to forward all cases of abuse of minors to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, where they were to be subject to secrecy.

The correct instruction would have been to forward all allegations of abuse of minors to the civil authorities.

Being a victim is not a state of mind which would appeal to me. Casual violence, often of a very brutal nature was the norm when I went to school. And the perpetrators were religious and laity.

I think the abuse you suffered casts light on your posting views - I guess some victims got to like it... to the point where they don't think of themselves as victims
