Fair play to the Irish community in Auckland for giving this incompetent Minister something to think about while she's on a lavish 15-day junket. She is a disgrace to this country and I hope we see the back of her soon.

That's laughable, you can't make a first statement like that and follow it up with a second 'no offence' statement.

No, but the group concerned are disgruntled socialists unhappy with Harney's health reforms. They are more concerned with workers benefits than patient welfare. Which they are entitled to be, but let's not pretend this is about patient welfare.

It's only 'laughable' if one misses the point, which you clearly have.

There's a reason why such people have to travel half way around the world to earn a crust.

Its because they're a waste of space.
    Your post is very ignorant.

I know a number of 20 something Irish ex pats in NZ and they are not there because they are a waste of space.

They are medical professionals, mainly physios and they left Ireland because Harney only takes on senior (non medical) managers and spin doctors in HSE. She actually abolished sanctioned posts for physios.

These young people wanted to work and thats why they are in NZ which is one of the nearest places which is English speaking and where there are suitable opportunities . Whether any of the people I know were on the demo i dont know but probably not because they would have been working and wouldn't have let patients down.

However, I can say they regards Harney as the worst minister of Health ever and resent being forced to go so far away to use their skills developed at the cost of the Irish taxpayer.

I think the point, however you dress it up, was pretty clear - that you believe working in McDonalds is 'beneath' a large number of people.

Laidback, you will find that, among the dwindling band of Harney supporters on this site, there is something of a competition in play here. The object seems to be to covet the title of "Last Man Standing" and the vitriol these supporters hurl at any opponent is the measure of the fanaticism with which they defend their chosen political poster girl. It is a sad and pathetic spectacle because history is going to be most unkind to this most odious of political charlatans.
