    * False affidavit
    * Smearing a political opponent
    * Attempt to dis-credit a newspaper and ruin the career of a journalist
    * Bringing the Garda "source" issue into it.

    so we have those issues but is there any reason why he should have resigned?

    File being prepared, allegedly

    GARDAI are preparing files for the Director of Public Prosecutions into separate incidents that led to the resignations of junior government minister Trevor Sargent and Defence Minister Willie O'Dea.

    The DPP will later determine whether criminal prosecutions should result from the inquiries.

    Mr O'Dea is under investigation after it emerged that he had sworn a High Court affidavit denying that he had made a false allegation during a newspaper interview linking a Limerick Sinn Fein councillor with a brothel in the city.

    But a tape of the interview confirmed that Mr O'Dea had made the comments.

    Amazing how many of theose FFers have bad memory. And them ministers , and Willie a journo with Sindo. Maybe "No recollection" is a better word, leaves you plan to deny something, and if later proven to be true you have an escape route, rather than being caught with a simple Yes/No.
    You'd think Kenny committed Treason and brought in IMF. Cowen had all in stitches in Galway at 3.30a.m.but he was "not impaired" -DD Power. FF=Publican páirtí an IMF.
