Is there anyone who thinks that this tolerance of low standards is less important than Enda Kenny's 'lack of charisma'?

Because when people say to me he is 'uncharismatic', a 'plank', etc, I have to ask - do you prefer the charismatic tolerance of low standards you get by voting for Brian Cowen of the FF party?

Former Defence Minister Willie O'Dea has told Gardai he can't remember the name of the officer who passed him false information about a political rival, he revealed last night. The Limerick TD confirmed to the Star yesterday that Gardai interviewed him as part of an investigation into the "Brothelgate" controversy that cost him his cabinet post.

O'Dea informed them that he simply couldn't recall which officer leaked him false information about Sinn Fein Councillor Maurice Quinlivan.

"They asked me to reveal the name....I can't remember." he told the Star

And when asked would he tell Gardai the name if he could remember it. Mr O'Dea replied: "That does not arise"

while the girl that leaked the info on trevor sargent has been arrested already.

Willie cant remember! I can recall him telling me about a distant cousin of mines funeral in 1990 and he told me this was the last time he met me. Good memory there Willie.

Or ask him another simple question

How many different Gardai do pass information on to him, name them all, and have all of them investigated as being the source of the libellous allegation

It's not a joking matter here. It's time to start nailing this nonsense down.

What do people expect? FF have used the McCarthy report as a pretence to control all Garda promotion (previously it used be only senior ranks). Of course ambitiuous individuals will be tempted to drop nuggets of intel to make themselves look good.

Can you clarify in what sense you mean lie?

I mean is it lie as in Paul Gogarty, lying on the ground and howling at the Moon.

Or in the sense of De Bert's good luck on the Nags?

Put him in jail for refusing to co-operate with a Garda investigation, and see if it refreshes his memory

You are definitely not alone in respect of this. He might as well have said that he heard this when his was ordering his pint at the bar and just happened to be earwigging a couple of guys chatting. Selective amnesia or it did not happen.
