Her brother attended one of the schools mentioned in the Ryan report. One of his relatives who worked in that school raised the matter with his family re abuses. As a result of this, they withdrew him and placed him in another school back home in the north. They didn't report the abuses to the relevant authorities so the abuses continued for some years before it ceased.
She is aware of her brother's ex alma mater school as she knows some of his brother's ex school mates- friends when she invited them in recently.
Agreed - the President needs to define a new role as a voice of the Nations conscience, not just a ribbon cutting functionary.
Well, if you're looking for an instant soundbite you'll not get it, but she clearly stated that " no-one is above the law". What do you want ffs ?
Notwithstanding her very close links to the Church and the Irish hierarchy I can't believe she would be indifferent to the suffering of abuse victims.
I suspect her silence could have more to do with the constraints of her Office in that the Government has to clear any official statements from her.
Still no word from the mother of the nation . Maybe she is praying to the Holy Spirit for guidance as to what to say
