I know it sounds strange, but is there signs of economic revival, i won't say recovery because it would be too soon to judge. over the the last week or so i have noticed a good few new houses being built, the dry weather over the last few weeks being a big help i suppose,i have also noticed more jobs in the classified ads in the local papers ,along with that a fair number of '10' registered cars, and i'm not talking KA's and i10s but SUVs and mercs is there an improvement ?

Brian "honest" Lenihan has told us that we have turned the corner, or have you not been reading the papers..
So therefore the hardcore of say 28% of FF ers will have it that the recession is over.
sure it was only a little recession any ways . it was enemies of the party and the media that made it sound worse than it was. as for the 450,000 on the dole , sure there is plenty of work out there if they would only bother their FG heads looking for it.

Yip there are signs of improvement in car sales. Very little else. In the meantime when people are buying their fuel / motor tax efficient cars we continue to borrow €400 million per week at 4.5%

    Things are looking up baby

Bear in mind also that mortgage rates are at an all time low, and tax increases await us at the year end.

    Rosey days are few...................

The SUVs and mercs crowd had no recession.
Actually, things got better for some of them as they used the opportunity of 'the recession' (which did not affect everybody equally, by the way) to reduce the wages and conditions of their workforce thereby making more profit for themselves..

I know nothing about economics, and stand to be corrected. But a few things that relatives have told me tallies with what you say. My brother has a car showroom in Cork. Sales were up 50pc in February on last year. And, so far in March they are up 100pc on last year. And my cousin works for the ESB. According to her, last year electricity demand was down 10pc. But, in the past few months it has risen and is now running a few per cent above last year. In January and February she thought this might have been due to the cold weather, but even in the past week or so, when it has become much warmer, demand is still running a few per cent up on last year.
