    - and all I can say is we are still on the way down....

If we are then so is just about everyone else.

The jump in car sales is due to a 'trade in' scheme that is giving that 'industry' a brief bounce that won't last.

If we ignore the following we are definitely on the way to economic revival

    1. NAMA
    2. Anglo
    3. Bank recapitalisation
    4. Plundering of NPRF
    5. €20 BILLION ANNUAL DEFICIT
    6. Our national debt
    7. Debt interest of €5 billion per annum
    8. Negative equity
    9. 300,000 empty properties
    10. The likelihood of houses being knocked
    11. Live register of 438,000
    12. 30,000+ on FAS training courses
    13. Public service strikes
    14. No competence in Government
    15. FAS predicting 87,000 job losses this year.

We are definitely on the right road

Not correct actually. Overall demand fell 5.5% in 2009 and even January 2010 was marginally down (-0.05%) on 2009 despite the freezing weather. And note how Eirgrid themselves in the January data state that the cold weather was a key factor in January demand.

Both February and March to date have been colder than last year so we will have to wait until April to get a better like for like reading.

PS the ESB are no longer the arbiter of electricity demand in Ireland. Eirgrid who manage the network are the one's who provide the data. It could be that the ESB supply is up because renewables such as wind have not had a good production period and the ESB may have had to step in with added supply.

Oooh, careful now. Talking up the economy on politics.ie is akin to launching a robust defence of female genital mutilation.

Sure it is all in our heads. If we believe the recession is over the it is over. So put the blinkers on everyone and believe, and remember to vote FF for bringing us this wonderful collective delusion

We should all emulate hammer's go get ya attitude.

Concerning the amount of off-topic posts on P.ie, I would not be surprised if a thread on the economy led to a robust defence of nazi female immigrant genital mutilation by a FF developer (subsequently explained by the church hiarachy as 'that was what was done back then').

    Brains to burn.

You should listen to my bias, not the other side’s bias.
