But, in the past few months it has risen and is now running a few per cent above last year. In January and February she thought this might have been due to the cold weather, but even in the past week or so, when it has become much warmer, demand is still running a few per cent up on last year.
Maybe the electricity usage is due to all those fans and air conditioners we need in the present heatwave due to global warming.

Interesting yardstick, now all we need is a few statistics.

Actually, things got better for some of them as they used the opportunity of 'the recession' (which did not affect everybody equally, by the way) to reduce the wages and conditions of their workforce thereby making more profit for themselves..
You are ignoring their investment properties which have dropped about 30% from peak (at least) which when gearing is taken into account may have wiped out their value and put them in negative equity, their bank shares wiped out etc

Funny how you conveniently ignore such obvious points.

Also - most companies are making less profit - duh!

We'll have none of that class of talk around here, if you don't mind.

If you want to know what's really going on, just check back on threads of this time last year and see who was predicting unemployment of 600,000 +, if the world didn't end sooner.

We know now how right they were.

Don't forget we were going to collapse in Jan and Feb 2010 and unemployment was going to hit 20%

It's not revival. It's just putrefaction gas...

    Sky is the limit.

You should listen to my bias, not the other side’s bias.
