I've no problem with his comments, but just the manner in which he speaks and carries himself, licking his lips etc., it's absolutely cringeworthy. It's actually almost worse than Dubwya was for the yanks, he's a national embarrasment.

I'm not sure. But I would veer towards yes. I suspect that only a small number of bars or other establishments selling drink would be able to afford to stay open 24 hours anyway. But we would have a choice to stay or go home.

The fact that we are forced to do our socialising within what our Government has decided are reasonable hours, forces people to gulp it down before closing time, and we all know what the results of chucking everyone out at the one time is.

Food is the key. If bars charged a bit more (yes I know, I know), and provided some finger food or other soakage as the night goes on, it might just slow down the pace of drinking. That is why I mentioned Madrid and the constant tapas in every bar.

I just think to have an adult in a bar in any town or city in this country, enjoying a drink, and being told at 12.30 to go home on a Saturday night is a bit childish. I would say the majority do not want to go near a nightclub and anyway they have to close at 2.30 or something.

Until we are given the opportunity to prove our maturity with alcohol, some will rebel when told to stop at a certain time.

Alcohol related incidents will always be with us, but if people are in a bar they are not on the road, and incidents can be contained within bars etc.

I too would like to hear others views on this.
