    Peanuts/monkeys adage?
The Nama board is experienced and non partisan - Richard Bruton and Joan Burton had input into and were satisfied

Nama (love it or loathe it) will be managing 10 of billions of our money - and needs serious board oversight

Thats not the point. We had the same people doing that job 3 months ago. The board members are not the current issue The issue is that they now have a 70% pay increase only after 12 weeks in the job.

Do you think all is well and good with this? I dont....

Well once they've settled in apparently they're doing more work:

Finance Minister Brian Lenihan yesterday confirmed he had approved a new fee structure for the nine-strong board in light of their increased workload.

€170k for chairman seems very low imo... and €50k for ordinary members is very low.

In other words, Lenihan et al went into NAMA blind, with no real idea of what was going to be involved.

So the very people who are meant to be in charge of NAMA have admitted they didnt know what the job entailed when they applied/accepted these high profile positions?

    Is this acceptable to you?

And another point. If I got a job in an office and the workload was more than I expected, would I be entitled to a 70% pay increase? - I dont think so.

These people are not entitled to more of OUR money based on the fact they underestimated the workload.

I am not suprised this happened, but I am sickened that we as a nation will allow this happen.

    We deserve better.

And at their first board meeting they vote to give themselves a pay rise.

    They are clever lads alright.

Nama is a new departure - pretty much unique in the world - I see nothing wrong with them having underestimated the work

Also the Indo headline is mendaciously sensational - the Chairman got 70% but ordinary members got 32%

You office job would be at a fixed number of hours - e.g. 45. The board member jobs relate to responsibility - and they've found it will take more of their time

At their next B.Meeting they might even get around to discussing NAMA.

By that logic evey wrong/corrupt decision they make can be passed off that NAMA is a new departure.

I was wondering what loophole/excuse they would use when they start to make a b*lls of this.

Also, a lot of office jobs are paid on a salary basis. ie. you are paid to do a certain job, not just be there for a certain amount of hours.

To demand a 70% pay increase would result in you being made to look an idiot (or secure you a position within FF).

Clever lads indeed. Are any of you surprised?

What'll change? Nothing. We'll all whinge about it (or FF or Harney or whatever) for a bit while they keep their heads down knowing it will all blow over. We never ever do anything about it except whinge.

    We deserve them.
