You could just a easily say that they're hallmarks of socialism / communism etc.

What part of "this story has nothing to do with left / right politics" don't you lot understand? The OP has put a ridiculous spin on this story and half of ye just accept it no questions asked.

I think you will find it was someone else that mentioned FF being Thatcherite i.e. beamish.

I never underestimate the greed and acquisitiveness of post Lynch FFers who surely must have their founding fathers spinning in their graves but I don't dignify it as having an underlying philosophy like monetarism/ Thatcherism. It's simply old fashioned greed, abuse of power, corruption and lies.

My point is that neo liberalism especially its confidence that the market can provide equity and its abhorrence of regulation has brought us to this sorry pass. We need more and much more sophisticated oversight -perhaps internationally appointed to get past the old boys network. I speculate that current trends in France and Germany (see links in my original post) might be indicating a shift to centre left politics in Europe.

The size of the Labour/Independent rump on the FG majority will determine how left wing Ireland could become.

Ireland is actually a tricky example because the Nationalist position plays such an important part in our history.
