RTE and Willie O'Dea: Why dir it take RTE so long to get their teeth into his story?

On RTE today in an interview with the Ed of the LImerick Leader S O'Rourke complained that the ED had sat on the story until June last year. Why has it taken RTE so long to bite the hand that feeds them? (8months?)

For the same reason the opposition didn't, there was an ongoing court case which the grownups didn't want to taint. We have multiple threads dealing with this, we don't need another.

You could say the same for almost all the traditional media with the exception of the Sunday Mail. P.ie kept the story alive since news of the settlement broke.

No impartiality at all on RTE this evening - they just reported as the Government now being "deprived" without Willie O'Dea at cabinet.

No matter how long it took them to get on it - it was O'Rourke's forensic dissection of O'Dea today that finished him off.
