    Is a Reshuffle imminent?

I had coffee this morning with a friendly political rumour monkey who seemed to suggest there was a buzz about the cabinet that a reshuffle was imminent.

Then this afternoon Mary Harney announced a reversal of her decision on the cervical vaccine. So I wondered if Minister Harney was maybe going into leaving-on-a-high mode.

Then this evening on The Last Word, Matt Cooper and Shane Coleman seemed to make the same suggestion, that a reshuffle could be imminent.

So , what do you think of any likely (if any) reshuffle - and who would you put in your FF/Green/Ind cabinet?

Odd to do so if the intention is for Lenihan to stay at the helm for as long as he can, unless someone is going to be tasked to shadow him to learn the ropes (not a bad idea) in case he does need to take time off. Stick a really good junior in there and they can manage the transition later.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

David, when you get dealt a pair of twos in a poker game does it make any difference if you shuffle your cards or should you just fold?

He may not be that far off the mark.
Simmering public discontent is about to boil over and fresh faces at cabinet would do much too lower the temperature as well as providing much needed pre election exposure to newbies.

It doesn't matter which corruption pigs get to feed out of which trough. Apart from Dempsey, who may be kept on as he makes the rest of them look good (and that's not easy). The reshuffle most of the public want involves the parties that make up the government - a general election.

OK, we will presume that a minister wouldn't step down to do this but we could have someone marked as MinFin designate and then someone like Barry Andrews shifted to Finance as a super junior to ensure a smooth transition if ever it was needed at short notice. Fact is that if Lenihan find the treatment really heavy going then he's not going to be giving 4 week notice.

So say Barry Andrews to super miniMinFin, and publicly designate Dermot Ahern as MinFin substitute should the need arise but leave him in Justice.

    Move Willie to Enterprise

    Pat Carey to Health

    Coughlan to Education

    O'Keeffe to Health

    Dara Calleary to Rural Affairs

Gormley and Ryan stay as is.

    Martin stays in FA

    Dempsey stays in Transport

Lisa McDonald from Wexford to SportsArtsTourism from the Seanad
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

Like I said when you have a pair of twos just fold.

    No.Not at all.

A clever Taoiseach will only piss off the seriously wounded ambitious ones by demoting or removing them.

Those in a strong situation will either remain or be promoted.

One or two new bloods will join the team.

Junior ministers will suffer the brunt of change as usual.

Cowan is the Boss and will remain so.
