If AI really want to make a statement they should republish, in print form, the Mohammed cartoons which at the time of the initial controversy only appeared in one Irish newspaper, The Irish Daily Star. Putting a bunch of quotes on a web site is just an easy way to gain attention which is why it got picked up by the popular British press.
I think the stupidity is in refusing to acknowledge the harm that AI's campaign might result in. Granted mpac.ie's Nazi/Jew analogy is a bit off, they do make a valid point. For me their picture of laughing German policemen ridiculing a Jew summed up the danger.

My arse. Intellectual cowardice plain and simple. Islamic claims can fight their corner in the marketplace of ideas just as all other claims have to give or take their punches as they need too. And that can't be sacrificed on the altar of posing as some sniveling minority.
