Jail for ‘courageous’ Munir Hussain who beat intruder with cricket bat

I read this story this morning about a British guy who got home from Mosque to find 3 intruders in his house. They threatened to kill his family. The guy and his brother chased the intruders away and gave one of them who already had over 50 convictions a good hiding.

Now the homeowner and his brother have been given jail sentences.

I personally think this is a disgrace. If the law can't put away a dangerous criminal with 50 convictions then why can someone not defend their home and their family by giving them a good kicking.

I applaud Mr Hussain for what he has done and I have already signed an online petition to protest against his conviction.

He beat a guys brains out . He went too far .
Actually the more I read it , the lack of witnesses disturbs me even more . Seems to me like the OPs hero just beat up on a guy , with no proof that the guy done anything wrong at all .

The judge told them: “If persons were permitted to take the law into their own hands and inflict their own instant and violent punishment on an apprehended offender rather than letting justice take its course, then the rule of law and our system of criminal justice, which are the hallmarks of a civilised society, would collapse.” Michael Wolkind, QC, defending Munir Hussain, promised to appeal.
Justice did not take it's course with that guy's 50 previous convictions! He was again at large to commit further crimes and the other yabos escaped jail. That's justice for wrongdoers.

You should read a little less and think about what you read the first time!

Em yes . This is very embarrasing but all I can make out is that 'Salem' Is awaiting trial for 'credit card fraud ' er so not kidnapping then ? Am I missing something ? Is the Times journalist missing something ?Seems like pure victimization to me , of a weak defenceless man by the judiciary and a 'business/community leader' albeit a convicted one .

Edit . You will have to forgive me my cynical ,conspiratorial view of the British judicary/establishment ,but alas I am old enough to remember the Birmingham six/Guildford four.

Salem, who has 50 past convictions, was given a two-year supervision order in September this year. He is now in custody awaiting trial for an alleged credit card fraud.
Now with those nuggets I leave you as there is little point in arguing with you.

They broke into his home, armed, threatened to kill him and his family ? if you infringe on somebodies human rights then you have automatically given up your own rights. The guy has a brain injury meaning I doubt he will be breaking into anybodies home again.

I know that might sound harsh but what some people tend to forget is the physiological affect that this can have on victims.A home is associated with security and safety and some people never get over the trauma.

The feeling is mutual . I blame shoddy journalism/editing myself . I dont hold it against you bud
The fact remains , nowhere does that article state clearly what 'Salem' was charged with or is in jail for .

Edit: Apologies now I see it says he didnt testify due to his injuries . That means we have to go on the word of a convicted criminal .

Now if the householder had been a Mr. Ponsonby, Col (Rtd.), and the three intruders had been called something like Hussain (Muslims!), just imagine the praise that would have been heaped on him by everything from the Daily Wail to ...

An Englishman's home is his castle, but not if he has a name like Hussain.
