I heard it. The other lady didn't need to say anything (though she did) the lady was an argument against herself. She seemed to have no concept or at least no respect for the division of church and state.
We can laugh here, but imagine if as in some countries, you actually had to pretend to go along with the fundamentalists. Imagine if people like that directly controlled the govt.
We came too close in the past and are only now beginning to recognize the damage that was caused when church overpowered state.
Anyway, Its funny how this majority always seem to stay so silent when the loony fringe is empowering them.
Cira/rira Not in my name.
I wonder is she the same aul wan from Donegal Town who used to write to the Irish Times on a regular basis moaning about sex education in schools, condoms being freely available and --- what really seems to have gotten to her --- the fact that a shop in her very own town was quite openly selling crotchless knickers?![]()
She invoked Article 41 of the constitution which, since she represents an extreme, fundamentalist, far right-wing viewpoint, should be examined to see if it requires amending to bring it in line with 21st century thinking. Zealots will always use the fig leaf of a strict interpretation of a law or a constitutional article to legitimise their intolerance and the disingenuous use of such a mechanism must be removed.

You are on to something there. These people have the same urges as everybody else. The only difference is that they beat themselves up for having something which, as they are devout religious nutballs, presumably was given to them by their creator.
Was it Samuel Johnson that produced a dictionary and after it's publication received a visit from two devoutly religious women who congratulated him for not including any obscene words. His comment to them was that he was glad to see they had been looking them up.
