A SEVENTEEN-year-old county girl was saved by her friends after being stabbed and kicked by three females wearing pyjamas.
The Leaving Cert student was waiting for her school bus at 3.30pm on Tuesday near the graveyard in Doon village when a gold 4x4 jeep screeched to a halt and three females jumped out.

They picked out their victim immediately and began kicking and punching her before stabbing her, said the parent of one of the witnesses.

Dozens of Secondary School students were in the vicinity of the attack.

The victim received medical attention at the scene before being taken to Limerick Regional Hospital.

The St. Joseph's Secondary School student was released on Tuesday evening after being treated for stab wounds and other injuries.

Her assailants are believed to live in the Murroe area, having moved out from the city.

Bruff gardai arrested three people on Wednesday morning in Murroe. Supt Tom Lundon, Bruff, confirmed that one girl was attacked on the street by a juvenile and two adults in their early 20s.

Supt Lundon confirmed on Wednesday evening that the three people were released without charge, and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

sterilisation orders need to be part of a badly needed revamp of our 'justice' system

there are those amongst us that simply should not be allowed to procreate

I think real law enforcement and judicial enforcement may be a better answer.

Limerick, as Ballymun Regeneration, has not sufficiently learned the lessons of the past - bricks and mortar are not what makes a community.

Instead of millions going to builders and consultants, they should have invested in supporting local community groups, in providing proper Gard services, in family supports and public transport. The situation in the large Limerick public housing areas has been neglected for years, with people left with virtually no services or access to education and employment.

Much as I loathe to admit this but Limerick has gone to the dogs. The rural villages of Murroe and Kilteely have a completely different feel to them now. I've always said it and will continue to do so until proven otherwise that the Gardaí are just too soft in both the city and county. In certain parts of Limerick there is absolutely no law what so ever. We had a muppet Mayor calling for people to be sent back to their home countries but these people have never done as much damage to this part of Ireland as the people from around the Mayors own area. The city and some parts of the county are now going down the toilet as laws are not being kept, simple as that.

Is it possible to build a wall like the Berlin Wall around Limerick and use mines etc to keep the people in as doing something like the did in the Simpsons movie is yet not feasible

Cut off all social welfare payments to the families of recidivists. simple. Starve them out of it. The people of limerick need to stand up and make this happen but instead they have accepted the situation as unfixable as they think civic action is pointless. The city and county councillers should be all fired, they counldnt even sort out the city limit demarcation issue, absolutely useless.

Anyone with money has retreated into castletroy, annacotty, corbally, and raheen.

Agree with Luimneach about the gardai too, they are more interested in collecting taxes down at the courthouse through parking offenses and doing 'soft touch' stuff like tax and insurance checks. The main street has junkies begging on it every day. They would want to get up off thier holes and do some real work.
